Proper preparation helps ensure even results and reduces irritation or complications.

7–14 Days Before Treatment

Discontinue retinoids (Retin-A, tretinoin, adapalene, tazarotene)
Avoid AHA/BHA acids (glycolic, salicylic, lactic acid)
Stop scrubs, exfoliating brushes, and at-home peels
Avoid waxing, laser, or other aggressive skin treatments
Postpone treatment if you have active cold sores, rash, or open skin lesions

3–5 Days Before Treatment

Avoid irritating skincare products and actives
Limit sun exposure and tanning beds
Stay well hydrated

Day of Treatment

Arrive with clean skin (no makeup, sunscreen, lotions, or oils)
Inform your provider of any recent medication changes or skin issues
Avoid alcohol 24 hours prior (optional but recommended)

VI Peel® – Post-Treatment Instructions

Peeling typically begins 2–3 days after treatment and can last several days.

First 24 Hours

Skin may feel tight, warm, or slightly itchy
Do not wash or apply products for at least 4 hours (or as directed)
Avoid touching or picking the skin

Days 1–3

Use only products provided or recommended by your provider
Avoid washing face excessively
No makeup unless approved by provider
Do not use retinol, acids, vitamin C, or exfoliants
Avoid sweating, saunas, hot yoga, or swimming

Days 3–7 (Peeling Phase)

Expect visible flaking/peeling (do not peel or pick skin)
Allow skin to shed naturally
Use gentle cleanser and moisturizer as directed
Continue to avoid active skincare products
